Pffff, RAGTAG first deployment on Fantastyval, 14 and 15 July, is at an end and I must say, I am pretty damn proud of my Grenadiers. In two month time we succeeded in organising a fully operation stormcourse for kids, age 10 through 88, to enjoy. They could fire nerfguns, throw grenades, crawl underneath barbed wire, take cover behind dragon teeth, take out a pilebox and assassinate a general. And it was fun! Fun and exhausting. Our drillmaster seemed to have limitless energy, because he instructed and yelled at kids all they as they crawled through the grass in uniforms armed with a nerfgun. And didn't feel bad about gathering darts and reloading guns all day.
As for the kids, some of them kept coming back to run the course again and again. Through the day people were sitting around the course just watching kids shooting with, and getting shot by nerfguns. And then there were photographer, Oh my dear Jehovah, the photographers! Usually I don't these people as much, but every time there were two of us together lenses were being presented in public. Yeah, usually I don't mind but for the first time I told them to look somewhere else.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the attraction in their own way. Kids were running the course, parents watch their kids and other just seemed to enjoy watching the whole thing while eating a sandwich, or whatever.
Conclusion, the whole thing seemed to be a success. People enjoyed the Grenadiers as a cosplay-group and entertainers. As for the course itself, it ran pretty smoothly for a new concept. There are some small hiccups, but solutions are already worked out so... So you next deployment I guess.
Till then, the Regiment will create allot of new of new propaganda material to make our selves know on the internet and to get noticed during events. We also want to expend the course and organize more activities that, beside kids, steamers and minions can enjoy. But we need more grenadiers in our ranks. So, if you like to be part of a cohesive unit, entertain people and take part in photoshoots, you can always contact your local Recruitment Officer on Facebook our through me.
ps, review of Fantastyval will be posted later this week on tupperwaresteampunk.nl
